Independence
VentMist is editorially independent. We do not accept payment in exchange for coverage, rankings, or favorable reviews. Advertising and any future affiliate relationships are kept separate from editorial decisions and never influence the guidance we publish.
How we research
Each guide begins with the questions real homeowners ask. We draw on hands-on field experience and on trusted references such as the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR, and recognized industry standards. When we state a number or a range, we aim to tie it to a credible source or clearly mark it as a practical rule of thumb.
Accuracy and fact-checking
Before publishing, we check claims against reliable sources and our own testing experience. We favor specifics over vague advice, and we try to explain the reasoning so you can judge a recommendation for yourself rather than taking it on faith.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and we would rather fix an error than defend it. If you spot a mistake, tell us through our contact page. We review every report and update the guide when a correction is warranted, noting meaningful changes where appropriate.
Updates
Homes, products, and standards change. We revisit older guides and refresh them so the advice stays current, which is why many articles show an updated date.
Authorship and expertise
