Then connect the drain. Flow-through humidifiers run a portion of water to a floor drain or condensate pump, so make sure that tube has a downhill path the whole way. This is trip-up number two: a drain line that sags or runs uphill will back up and overflow onto your basement floor.
Open the water slowly the first time and watch every fitting for a full minute. A pinhole drip at a saddle valve can go unnoticed for weeks and rot the plenum or floor beneath it.
